Reflections on the Grape Harvest
This week we picked the final grapes at our Door 44 Vineyards. The harvest coming to an end gives winemakers across the world pause as they reminisce on the hard work and bountiful rewards of the season. As the last clusters are plucked from the vines, we feel a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction, knowing that another successful harvest has been completed.
For the winemaker, the grape harvest is the most crucial time of the year. It is a period of intense labor, where every decision and action can greatly impact the flavors of the final product! This year’s grape harvest was particularly memorable as the warm summer temperatures and lower rain fall provided the grapes with optimal conditions to potentially create the best vintage yet of our wines – time is yet to tell!
Thank you to all who helped bring in the harvest, making this a time of camaraderie and community that also making this harvest memorable – we appreciate all of you! The long days spent in the vineyards were filled with laughter, shared meals and glasses of wine and a sense of unity.
The grape harvest is also a time of reflection as winemakers look back on the challenges and triumphs of the season, appreciating the fruits of their labor. It is a time to celebrate the culmination of a year’s worth of effort and toasting to the promise of what is to come!
