Exciting News!

This week we are excited to announce that Parallel 44 & Door 44 received 25 medals in the largest wine competition in North America, the San Francisco International Wine Chronicle Competition.

We were the most medaled winery east of the Rocky Mountains. That means a lot considering this competition had over 5500 wines from over 950 wineries. The panel of 50 judges consisted of sommeliers, wine writers, wine makers, wine buyers, and chefs.

We are proud to announce that Marquette Reserve won Best of Class Red Hybrid wine and Red Frosting won Best of Class Red Dessert wine. Overall, we received 2 Best of Classes, 3 Double Golds, 6 Golds, and 10 Silvers.

The Double Golds were Frontenac Blanc, Vibrant, and Brianna, while the Golds were Sparkler, LaCrescent, Frozen Tundra White, Frozen Tundra Red. Red Door, and Vintners Reserve.

This led us to receiving 4 of the top 6 wines in the Red Blend Hybrid Category. As for the White Hybrids Category, we were the most awarded winery and Vibrant was the only Double Gold awarded to a white blend wine outside of California.

And in the Rose’ Category we received the most medals for rose’ wines outside of California with awards going to Frozen Tundra Original, Petite Rose’, Blanc de Marquette, Drink Pink, and Pink Frosting.

What does this mean?

First, we will never rest on our laurels and always be striving to get better. This reminds us of a favorite quote from the great Vince Lombardi, “Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.”

Secondly, it means that we are continuing to make excellent wines in many different categories from Reds to Whites to Roses’ to Sparking to Dessert wines.

Thirdly, it means that world class judges are recognizing the quality of wines coming from a part of the country where no one expected they would.

And Fourth, it means that you can affordably enjoy these world class wines being grown and produced in our own backyard of Wisconsin.

Some of these wines are running low, so we recommend you get some before they are gone.

And finally, we want to thank you for your support of our wineries. The reality is that our greatest joy comes not from the results of competitions, but really the true joy comes from seeing you all enjoying and sharing these wines over the years and into the future.
